In 1957, 73 percent of Pennsylvania’s jobs were unskilled. Today, that number is 24 percent.*
Consequently, citizens need more education to keep pace with the needs of the marketplace. Pennsylvania’s economic future depends upon the development of a workforce able to compete in today’s economy. The PA Department of Labor and Industry affords opportunities to employers and their employees through the Industry Worker Training Grants. The training grants support the alignment of training and education strategies in manufacturing, which focuses on a skilled workforce to enhance the competitive advantage of targeted industry clusters.
