Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board, Inc.

2009 Local Plan Modification

E-mail Print PDF

The Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board collaborates with representatives from economic development, education, and business communities to determine the trade, industry, and educational needs of Luzerne/Schuylkill Counties. This is accomplished through monthly meetings and by maintaining a close working relationship. Where appropriate and possible, they serve on additional economic development and community boards and committees, thereby supporting greater integration and unification of the efforts to prepare the local workforce for the future.

The Local Plan modification is the result of extensive and intensive collaboration between L/S WIB board members, L/S WIB staff, PA CareerLink Partners, PA CareerLink Operators, local and state elected officials, representatives of organized labor and education, public and private sector employers, specialists for the Center for Workforce Information and Analysis, and interested members of the public.

The 2009 Local Plan Modification goals:

  1. Meet employer demands for skilled workers.
  2. Increase opportunities for workers to boost their skills in high priority occupations.
  3. Further develop and enhance regional Industry Partnerships, and prepare youth for careers of tomorrow.
