The L/S WIB, Inc. engages business, industry, education, economic development and community organizations to participate with the public workforce system to identify workforce challenges and develop strategies and solutions to address those challenges. The vision of the L/S WIB, Inc. for workforce development in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties is contained in the following mission statement: "To ensure a demand-driven world-class workforce system aligned with economic development and education."

Board Chair
Martha M. Herron was appointed to the Chair position in June 2009. She has been a member of the L/S WIB since its’ inception. Martha attended The University of Oklahoma, Boston College, and is a graduate from King’s College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and a Minor in Business Administration. Martha also obtained an Associate Science Degree in Business Administration from King’s College. While Ms. Herron has held an array of positions related to economic and community development she is presently employed as the Regional Community Relations Director for PPL Corporation. She is the founder of Leadership Hazleton, Hazleton Business Education Partnership, Readiness Employment Ability Development For You (READY Program), and the Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership. She is also co-founder of Circle 200 and the Success Suits Me Program, as well as serving on the board of a number of other community-based organizations and volunteer programs. Some of her achievements include receiving the Distinguished Woman Award, Girl Scout Award, Athena Award, Pennsylvania’s “50 Best Women in Business” Award, and the Ethos Award among others. She and her husband, Attorney Terrence J. Herron are residents of both Hazleton and Harvey’s Lake. They have one son, Terrence Herron II. Terrence and his wife Kelly are the parents of two children, TJ and Jack.
